MY PICK: #2

8/11/2016

BUSINESS 101. Be the boss. Make the money. Build a business. Hire employees. Keep the rolling in the cash. Life is good? Ab-so-lutely.

Not so fast. You better make sure that you hire the right employees, keep the cash rolling in, build your brand. Cause if you don't, everything goes downhill. The man at the top has the most pressure on him... However. The man sitting at the boss' right hand has the best seat in the house. He gets to execute the vision of the company while not worrying about how this week of bills will be paid.
The number 2 man gets to play the cards dealt to him. In your fantasy draft, the number 2 pick gets to play off the decision made by the person picking first. Win-win situation. IF the number 1 pick is a stud, there's nothing you could do to draft him. IF the number 1 pick flops, you look like a genius taking your guy with the second pick.
This article is designed for a 10 team, PPR league using a snake draft. We provide two different team options: leagues with strong QB scoring system and leagues with weak QB scoring system.

TEAM ROSTER: Pick 2 (QB Strong)
  • 1. Adrian Peterson (RB) 2nd overall
  • 2. Ezekiel Elliot (RB) 19th overall
  • 3. Demaryius Thomas (WR) 22th overall
  • 4. Alshon Jeffrey (WR) 39th overall
  • 5. Ben Roethlisberger (QB) 42nd overall
  • 6. Julius Thomas (TE) 59th overall
  • 7. Dion Lewis (RB) 62nd overall
  • 8. Devante Parker (WR) 79th overall
  • 9. Duke Johnson (RB) 82nd overall
  • 10. Tavon Austin (WR) 99th overall
TEAM NOTES:
Even at 31, AP just seems to keep trucking along. Pairing him with Elliot is an electric 1-2 combo.
Demaryius will be great this season. Whoever his QB comes out to be, will be able to use him as a deep threat, unlike last year. Take him early.
Lewis is risky, but he's on a winning team. And without Brady in the first 4 weeks, Lewis will get the ball.

TEAM ROSTER: Pick 2 (QB Weak)
  • 1. Todd Gurley (RB) 2nd overall
  • 2. Brandon Marshall (WR) 19th overall
  • 3. Keenan Allen (WR) 22nd overall
  • 4. Greg Olsen (TE) 39th overall
  • 5. Latavius Murray (RB) 42nd overall
  • 6. Emmanuel Sanders (WR) 59th overall
  • 7. Dion Lewis (RB) 62nd overall
  • 8. Tom Brady (QB) 79th overall
  • 9. Chris Ivory (RB) 82nd overall
  • 10. Marvin Jones (WR) 99th overall
TEAM NOTES:
-Gurley could be the number one RB for many years to come in fantasy. The talent is unquestionable but the situation is scary. Can he catch passes and have a similar TD rate as last year are the questions about his fantasy value.

-Marshal isn't a flashy fantasy pick anymore but it is the right one. He has finished in the top 10 WRs 4 of the last 5 years and 3 of the last 5 he was in the top 5.
-Latavius Murray is a great back to team up with Gurley. He has potential to be a top 12 RB in total points again this year but his points per game must increase for him to be a high end RB2.
-If Dion Lewis is healthy and the Patriots use him at the almost 70% rate they did before his torn ACL he could be a RB1 in PPR and great RB2 in standard leagues.

-Drafting Brady is not as risky as drafting Levon Bell or Josh Gordon. The QB position is so deep finding replacement level value for Brady the first 4 weeks shouldn't be a problem.
-Marvin Jones is no Calvin Johnson and has never been the number 1 WR on his team, Keenan Allen in college and AJ Green in Cincinnati. He has never eclipsed 1,000 yards in the NFL but this is his best chance to be the guy in Detroit and his ADP is totally work the chance to see if he can be.
